Member Profile: Amber Vigil
Amber Vigil and her husband live in Petaluma where they’re raising four boys ages 2-12. She has two part-time jobs and her husband works full-time. Amber is the first to admit, that her family lives pretty simply. But when it comes to the meat she cooks for her family, she was willing to pay a little extra.
It was when she was volunteering at her son’s preschool where she first learned about Tara Firm Farms. She was talking about how hard it was to find meat she wanted at the grocery store and another mom suggested Tara Firma Farms. So Amber signed up and she’s been a member ever since.
“We love how everything tastes,” Amber says. “And we use every last bit of it.” With four children in various stages of pickiness, Amber says she makes a lot of chicken. She even boils the bones to make broth. They don’t eat a ton of red meat but she admits to making a mean cheeseburger. Every single person who has eaten a cheeseburger from the ground beef in her meat share has insisted that it’s the best cheeseburger they’ve ever had.
Amber says her kids are addicted to the vanilla yogurt that comes in the box and she’s been really happy with some spices that she recently picked up at an event at the farm. Another thing that sets the farm apart, Amber says, is the customer service. And working in the food service industry herself, Amber knows this isn’t always as easy as it looks.
“I love the customer service,” says Amber. “That’s a really important to me. I take pride in what I do and I really appreciate good service.” Once when her order wasn’t exactly right Amber says that Tara Firma did everything they could to make it up to her. “Greg and Tara literally came to my door with a bag of meat,” Amber laughs. “Now that’s good service!”
