How can sustainable farming reverse climate change?

For those of you who have seen this ground breaking TEDtalk, you know how a video on "Carbon Sequestration" could have close to 1 million views on TEDtalk and 300,000 on Youtube.

“Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert,” begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk. And it's happening to about two-thirds of the world’s grasslands, accelerating climate change and causing traditional grazing societies to descend into social chaos. Savory has devoted his life to stopping it. He now believes -- and his work so far shows -- that a surprising factor can protect grasslands and even reclaim degraded land that was once desert. Take a minute to watch this inspiring talk:

Allan Savory: How to fight desertification and reverse climate change

Tara Firma Farms practices ‘Holisitic Management’ moving cattle over our 290 acres of land.

After only 4 years of intentional grazing there is a significant increase in forage and perennial grasses across the property. By observing this change, it is apparent that Allen Savory's claims are not only valid but actually understated. We are very excited to have the opportunity to watch the land heal and the fertility and nutrients to skyrocket!

Keating Wallau, our 'Holistic Managment' specialist has his sights on increasing the awareness of these techniques. He has been meeting with ranchers across Sonoma County explaining how applying "Holistic Managment" techniques can not only heal the land and help reduce climate change but is also, ultimately, a more profitable model. If Ideas like this continue to spread the future looks bright for healing our bodies and healing the earth!
