Q: What do cows eat?
A: Grass! Believe it or not less than 10% of the beef in the world (even less in the US) actually gets to eat grass. Almost all of the 30 million cows that are produced from conventional feedlots are fed corn, which is extremely unhealthy for them. It would be similar to raising your child on M&M's!
Q : Why are people so afraid of red meat?
A: When ruminates, particularly cows, are fed corn they produce only around 30% of the Omega-3 fatty acids as they would eating grass. Omega-3 fatty acids are one of the essential healthy fats that have a host health benefits including: reducing plaque buildup in arteries, increased brain function, lowering bad cholesterol, improving skin quality among many others.
Q: How can cows reverse climate change?
A: Cows (and other ruminants) evolved in a symbiotic relationship with the grasslands. Grasslands provided food;... grass and cows kept the grass trimmed and fertilized. When BIG Agriculture took the cows off grassland and put them into massive feedlots and started feeding them corn, it removed an essential part to the survival of the grasslands. As many people know, grasslands are huge carbon sinks, and are very effective at pulling carbon from the atmosphere and infusing it into the soil. As the grasslands die and turn into desert they are obviously less affective in cleaning up the atmosphere in this way. So… How can cows reverse climate change? Put them back on grass and it will happen naturally!!
